Severn Stars Secures New Sponsorship Deal

Severn Stars, Worcester’s new professional netball team, has secured a sponsorship deal with a major healthcare provider.

Worcestershire Knee and Hip Clinic at Spire South Bank Hospital, based in central Worcester, will provide clinical support for team player injuries as part of a season-long deal.

Worcestershire Knee and Hip Clinic provides clinical excellence in sports injuries at all levels including recreational and professional teams, such as the Severn Stars.

Nadim Aslam, a Consultant Orthopaedic Knee, Sports Injury and Hip Specialist at Spire South Bank Hospital, will be working with the team to help prevent, recognise, manage and rehabilitate sports injuries.

Mr Aslam, who was awarded Membership of Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine in 2008, said: “I am delighted to be providing orthopaedic clinical support and expertise to the exciting new netball team for Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, Severn Stars.  I will be watching the Vitality Netball Superleague with interest, and wish the Stars every success in their first season.”

The Severn Stars is a joint partnership between the University of Worcester and University of Gloucestershire. The Club will initially play its home matches at the University of Worcester Arena.

Mick Donovan, the University of Worcester’s Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor (Inclusive Sport & Educational Development) and co-founder of Severn Stars, said: “We have worked with Spire Healthcare in the past with the Worcester Wolves and have received extremely professional support and guidance.  To now have such an organisation on board with the Stars is a huge bonus for both the players and the profile of our netball program generally. We are thrilled to be welcoming them to the Stars family.”
